University

And it goes right back...

..after Spring Break to work, study, work...and sleep Smiling

Projects and presentations are piling up and need to get done! The coming weeks, there will be couple of presentations, projects, tests and soon the final exams.

The communication team had a meeting yesterday to brainstorm about the brochures layout, so the current one could be improved. In the end, we designed our perfect brochure for an international business school. Smiling

My Point of View in Law Class...

was this:

As always, the majority would sit in the back and minority in the front, which led to two rows being unoccupied...the result: difficult to have everyone included in the class discussion, let alone being understood in the back or being able to understand what was said in the back. But neither one group was letting go of insisting.. Smiling

Grades and Trade Shows

So I received my results from last semester and it looks all good with a GPA of 3,86 (out of 4) giving me a total GPA (from all semesters so far) of 3,87. Smiling Yay!

On Saturday and Sunday I will participate at a trade fair to represent the school (8 hours each day). long days ahead... Eye-wink

The ABS Communication Team

Since Tuesday, I am part of the official communication team at the American Business School.

We have a new administrative person responsible for external communication and initiated this group of people, that are willing to engage themselves in trade fairs, open days, spend-a-day-with-us etc.

We will have a training just before next semester to learn more about communication techniques. We will also do some other marketing: phoning, that is to contact prospective students and tell them about upcoming events at the ABS.

So this new team might be a challenge as, let's say, it is "more serious" than the previous "we just participate in the trade fairs". I hope it will be interesting and that I will improve my personal selling skills. Smiling Rather this than the course, huh? Eye-wink

Our library

Our library

This is about a third of the library at my campus. Very small, but cosy Smiling

Salon d'Étudiant

Like every year, the American Business School Paris is represented at the Salon d'Étudiant. I was a representative again this year and informed future students about the ABS on Friday afternoon and today. Quite exhausting to talk against the background noise and stay focused. But it is also a lot of fun and I can exercise my sales and presentation skills 'cause you never know what they going to ask you. Eye-wink

Besides, you get to know lots of people, i.e. people applying for jobs. I made the acquaintance with a Chinese language and culture teacher and a French one. Smiling

Sociology Presentation - Economies, Work, Consumption

I am holding this presentation in about an hour. Smiling

The usual confusion

This is how the board looks like after basically every ten minutes in my Finance class. Without any judgement, just wanted to show the analytical and logical skills needed to understand the examples!

ABS Brochure

I was asked over a month ago to write a testimonial for the brochure and send a nice picture, which I did.

Last Wednesday, the new ABS brochure came out and featured my picture and my name (written incorrectly) and a text that is not mine, but the following:

"My timetable allows me to do a part-time internship as I am completing my fourth year. I chose among several offers and took the one that interested me the most in a company specialized in events management. I realize how the multicultural exposure allowed me to be more openminded and facilitated my adaptation to my job. The school not only opens numerous doors for your future career but also prepares you in the best possible way."

Well, it is kind of difficult to have a part-time internship when completing seven classes, unless I sleep only 4 hours a night.

Today, I will talk to the responsible person. Though I don't know whether I can make them undo it or simply wait until the next edition to be taken out.

Ironically, it is always the administration talking about plagiarism and laws!

Causes for Oil Price Fluctuations

A more detailed outline of what we are going to do in our presentation about "Causes for Oil Price Fluctuations".

Production/Reserves
Demand/Consumption

  • Oil consumption today versus 10 years ago

Export vs. Import

Influences

  • US --> demand --> price increase
  • Putin --> oil used as a threatening weapon
  • West Africa --> suppression (Angola, Nigeria, )
  • OPEC and U.S.

factors influencing oil prices

  • technological development
  • Canada oil sands --> would only be profitable to refine oil when minimum of $25/barrel
  • U.S. oil shale reserves and their exploration
  • storage of oil
  • Demand (China and India) --> Economical development
