MoDAL

Today I have updated the machm-it.org project website MoDAL. It was made with Mambo 4.5.2.3 with a lot of security patches and it was based on our association server.
Now it is a shiny, brandnew Joomla 1.0.11 and it is based on the machm-it.org server.

Interview :-)

At the linuxworldexpo I had a nice meeting with Robert Deutz, the other famous author of a german mambo book Smiling

5 minutes after the fair ended, Manfred decided to make a 5 minutes interview with us. It was quite funny Smiling
I assume, that it is shortly available at:

mambo/joomla course

I have given a Mambo course in Munich.
Two days full of Mambo & Joomla!, installing & configuring.
Every time, I show people the possibilities of Mambo/Joomla! I am astonished how much things are possible nowadays with a mixture of CMS, APIs, creative thoughts and open source (and chocolate & pizza & coffee)..
One of the participants wanted to integrate XML-based content in Mambo and we searched the web for a solution.
We found a possibilty with the XML-Reporter project. It consists of two parts.

Today I have a few Mambo Presentations.
How to manage a Website?
How to install Mambo?
How to change templates?
How to integrate and offer RSS Feeds?

mambo book released

Tagged:

Today, Packts Publishing released the english translation of my german Mambo book. It is my first book in english language now and I hope not the last Smiling
They also released an interview with me, which was written before the trouble between miro & devteam was starting.

I hope that this situation is cleared very soon and that the book can help to spread the Mambo System (and all its possible forks Smiling ) in the world.

20 questions to miro

Tagged:

The devteam <-> miro war about mambo cms is going on.
Ric Shreves asked 20 questions to the Mambo Foundation and for me it is very interesting (the questions and the comments).
http://ricshreves.net/content/view/116/47/
The same questions and answers were discussed at the slashdot Website
http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/08/21/1455254&tid=99&tid=8

May be in the next days we will find somewhere 20 questions to the devteam.

Now we have the fork of mambo.
One branch is mambo
http://www.mamboserver.com/
and the other branch is "the system formerly known as Mambo"
http://www.opensourcematters.org/

After the announcement made by the new mambo foundation the whole developper team wrote an open letter to the community, left the mambo project and started their own project.
Now, they are in the progress of organizing and finding a name for the new baby.

For millions of mambo users there is probably no problem. The whole devteam speaks with one voice and they want to develop the best CMS in the world (at the moment without a name Smiling )

Mambo Foundation II

After a big discussion about the new Mambo Foundation (have you read the 18 Pages Thread)?
here an example from ratlaw (ric) - August 16th

It has been 6 days without a single word from the core team ...
1. If the Foundation is for the good of the community why was it not brought before the community for debate?
2. If the Foundation is for the good of the code will the code copyright be transferred to the Free Software Foundation?
3. If the Foundation is for the good of the community why have you let this thread dissolve into mud slinging by not answering simple questions?

The interview is done ... *pfft*
The radio station (netwatcher.at) was not used to record interviews via skype, so it was a technical challenge to organize that.
We talked about 2 hours and now they have to cut it, so that the interview is not longer than 5 minutes Smiling.

I am curious to hear it! (around the 10th of August, they will publish it)

We talked about Mambo, me, strike>women, WhatTheHack, CCC-Congresses, Otto Schily, law and order, social aspects, Wikipedia (now with a link to the austrian and Swiss community which the editors always have deleted in the past) and after 2 hours we decided to meet face to face at the ccc congress 2005 in Berlin. Manfred is presenting a workshop about mambo there und may be we can organize a small mamboday/-meeting at the conference.
