One must be mad to try to set up a business in France: so much paper work! so much to pay even before having customers! What is your experience in France? Can you compare with your country of origin? Any tip?

The last two weeks were really busy. First of all j'ai pris en cours de français à Carole. (J'ai rêvés de conjugation

During that course I learned the absoulte basics in French and a lot of more difficult to explain how to's in french:

• to open a professional bank account in two days,
• ask for special building materials
• explain the different possibilities to create a company in france.

In between I always worked a bit at our building site. I opened a very thick wall, build in a window and I plastered a very large stone wall. During the evenings, with a feeble arm and sleepy eyes I worked a bit for money and a bit for machm-it.org. Yesterday, finally, I finished the constitution of our new entreprise. Tomorrow morning I am going to Helsinki for the second cooking project meeting.

... is not that easy as it seems because before you take a decision about the type of your company you really need to check the tax consequences. Changing the status afterwards is possible but it could costs you a lot of money.
For so called SME these possibilites are the most appropriate ones:
EI - Entreprise individuelle, comparable with the german Personengesellschaft
EURL - Entreprise Unipersonnelle à Responsabilité Limitée, it's also an one men/woman company but with limited liability.
SARL - Société à Responsabilité Limitée, comparable with the German GmbH.
Depending on the status of the legal form you have to pay different kind of taxes and insurances. You have to be registered, you need an office and you must declare your taxes, you have the possibility to depreciate and deduct your expenses.

There are a lot of advertisements now in the Métro station regarding the First Online Supermarket in France (or ever?). The development is remarkable for France.
